The EMPIREVPN founder Preston Anderson from the USA came to Interexy with a goal to develop a startup VPN mobile application. The goal was to design a cutting-edge, modern, and unique application for his users.
Today’s VPN market is glowing, providing people with a great number of well-thought-out applications for any purpose. Regardless of the number, all these VPN services come with outdated designs, and only a few countries are available for connection. This is why our client decided to bring a fascinating design, fast speed, and a large network as a smart, stable, and game-looking VPN service to the market.
The main requirement from the client was to develop EMPIREVPN with an interactive and unique design. After a few calls with him and collecting what his 3D animator has already done, we came up with the idea to produce a game-looking application in a style of ancient imperium with castles and knights.
The main challenge we faced during the first stages of the development process was related to the cross-platform that our client wanted us to craft an app on. We chose a Flutter, which was the optimum option based on deadlines, customers’ needs, and the app’s expectations. Even though the whole platform is great for such applications, there were several problems like challenges with tech nuances, connecting VPN protocols, and plugins.
Since the client required us to develop an app for both iOS and Android platforms, we had to choose a plugin that had to allow us to provide a great number of network connections and fast speed. At this stage of the app, we delivered over 40 countries worldwide that can be used as protected locations, but the customer also decided to get back for version number two with the primary goal to expand locations. So now, we are in the process of developing the second version and discussing possible ways to resolve the problem and get another platform.
The UX part not only ensured the most satisfying design of the app but also user freedom and understanding of what the product is doing and the way they can achieve their main goal. Even though the app looks just like an ancient empire with lots of cool and engaging features, we also guarantee not to overwhelm users by displaying unnecessary information.
Our UI part of the design also ensured the information presented on each screen is valuable and relevant by examining every element and evaluating it based on the value it delivers to both novice and expert users.

We developed a great-looking and functional VPN application based on all cybersecurity requirements. Once the user opens the app, he goes through registration and can purchase the subscription after seven trial days. The user can choose between 50 points to connect worldwide according to their location and needed service. He also can add the favorite one country to the elect base, allowing the improved speed of connections in case of unpredicted situations.
The application also has the feature “always-on” when the service is closed, informing about potentially dangerous websites to help users stay updated when they may need to turn on VPN and allow customers to include their own wi-fi to turn off the “always-on” function when they connect to it.
We also ensured the user could edit the information in his personal profile, upgrade subscription plans, and send messages to customer support in order to advise new implementations for better usage. The app is featured with a FAQ block and allows customers to regulate sound and animation.
