We started with the two main brand features: simplicity & speed of use. We created low-fidelity prototypes in the first place to outline seamless & fast application flow making sure the user can perform the desired action in the least possible amounts of steps. We decided to keep the design as clean as possible & not overflow the product with unnecessary UI elements.
It’s always hard to look after your kids making sure they’re present on various activities you set for them on time – we’re solving this by having schedule functionalities for busy parents. Users are receiving notifications at the time of scheduled activities making sure nothing would be missed.
People sometimes ask Jennifer Nadelson if the startup she co-founded last year, aimed at offering working parents a wider range of kids activities, was “just a Covid thing.” Her answer? Definitely not.
“This is a working parent problem,” says the Brookline mom and CEO of Scout. “This is a phenomenon we’ve got to focus on… This is a foundational structure that already put working parents — and in particular, working women — under a tremendous amount of stress.”
The timing of the company, however, coincided perfectly with the sudden attention on childcare brought about by the pandemic.
Here is what Scout’s team saying of Interexy’s work on the project: The Scout app was first launched in April 2020, just weeks after the shutdown of schools and workplaces forced many working parents to juggle childcare and remote work.
“The quality of Interexy team work is great and we have been very happy with everything they have delivered. Since launch we have seen a lot of engagement in their area. We’ve closed deals with two fortune 500 companies reaching over tens of thousands of employees.
Nadelson said parents can use the app as a backup plan when childcare falls through, but many use it simply to keep their kids from spending too much time watching YouTube or TikTok. The app offers camps, chess, fencing and hundreds of other activities. Nadelson said that even during the pandemic, there have been in-person events — such as at the Hill House in downtown Boston — and she expects more with the coming of spring.

Let’s do thisScout iOS app was developed using native technologies establishing highest quality possible on the marketplace
Swift MVC+ architecture provided fast application performance with simple user flows
Coordinator-based Navigation pattern along with vast usage of background threads computations allowed for proper performance of main UI thread & remove blockers
Upon the completion of discovery sessions and preparation of artifacts like Software Specification, Clickable Prototype, Product Backlog & UI/UX Design we kicked off the application development process – with setting up MVC+ architecture with managers in the first place and preparation of the network layer to seamless connection and data exchange with PHP-based backend API. We also had a web-based panel planned for the product development where React was chosen as a development language to allow customizability & reactive workflows.
Our main focus when developing the product was the user experience of the customers of the service and making sure that the desired action can be done in the least possible steps – that were the research during the Software Specification stage were focused – we worked through the flows of the product with the business analyst, UX specialist & technical team to make sure the proposed flows of the product are reflecting modern User Interface Guidelines and also make sense from the implementation point of view. The technical team critically thought through the process, outlining each and every potential bottlenecks like UI Thread blocks, background calculations, synchronizations of the data coming from the backend with local APIs, and finalized the approaches to architecture the product.
Our team aims to deliver world-class mobile applications for famous & trusted B2B & B2C providers across different industries over the globe. Click the button below to see more case studies.
Read MoreScout iOS App has a number of screens with multi-choice implementations – we were building separate managers to save choices in the local database & display them correctly once the user returns to the screen.
The goal was not only to design simple & attractive UI & user flows but also implement it into the app pixel-perfectly – the target audience of the app are busy working parents and UX should reflect that.
Swift development language gave us an option to have access to all of the iOS features on the product establishing native user experiences & the highest performance marks.
To establish simplicity & easy of use on the product we working with optimization of main UI thread a lot – making sure there is nothing on the app blocking the user interface interactions.
Scout should not only work perfectly for one kid but have displays, interactions, and available functionalities for the range of kids making sure each member of the family is busy with working on herself & parents are notified and aren’t missing anything.
We ensured that entities are well-separated and have no dependencies on other parts of the product following KISS & SOLID principles.
Activities categories workflow is one of the most important on the product – since it’s provided to the B2B clients of the service and is a core of the product when adding new activities and managing them.
We’ve developed a complex object model & outlined the connections between entities like categories, activities, traits, etc. to establish ease of use of the web-based panel & seamless back-end and mobile front-end workflow.
The iOS application & website is launched, application backend was rebuilt from Firebase to a custom PHP-based backend allowing further growth, expansion & functionalities additions to increase the value brought by the product to its’ users & customers.
Scout Team was able to fundraise $260.000 with the MVP version developed by Interexy & looking to fundraise $1M more. They were also able to onboard 2 Fortune 500 companies as clients and looking for more.

Within its first nine weeks, the app received 8,000 users and a 4.7-star rating. The platform is well designed and hasn’t had many bugs. Interexy LLC is fast and efficient at building new features as well as taking scope changes in stride. Expertise and responsiveness are hallmarks of their work.
I got an amazing product that was exactly what I envisioned when I first sat out & drew the plans. The two areas that I think where Stan & his team particularly excel: first is attention to detail (…) & secondly the kind of support they’ve provided after the app was largely complete. I’m sure the number of teams just do the bug work & leave it but they are [Interexy team] always on hand to answer any questions really at any time of day which is incredible. So I’d encourage anyone who wants to build any sort of product to use Stan & his team. It’ll accelerate your business and make your life a whole lot easier.
Before choosing Interexy, I’ve hired a firm out of India – they gave me a great price, great timeline (…). And after close to a year, they told me they couldn’t get the project done. Then I started to talk with Stan from Interexy. I hired them, they quoted me 8 weeks to get this project done, well, 8 weeks later – the project is done. Now I just have nothing but a great thing to say about the company – they were on time, great communication and just great people there. I’d 100% recommend Interexy for any web development or app development project that you have out there, they’re just fantastic.
